TeraGanix EM-1 Microbial Incoulant

Building on 20 plus years as a researcher in agricultural products, Dr. Teruo Higa, a professor of horticulture, developed EM•1® Microbial Inoculant in the late 1960’s and revealed the product to the public in 1982 after over a decade of preliminary research. Since then EM•1® Microbial Inoculant is now in use in over 120 countries and manufactured in 60. It was first developed to TeraGanix EM-1 Microbial Incoulantdecrease the dependency on synthetic chemicals to help farmers produce more foods at a lower cost. It has come a long way since then, now uses include crop production, animal husbandry, wastewater treatment, nutrient reduction, bioremediation, water treatment, and human health.

EM•1® is a live culture of naturally-occurring beneficial microorganisms including several species of lactic acid bacteria, yeast, and photosynthetic bacteria. The manufacturing process is a long fermentation that stabilizes the microbes for long shelf stability and allows for the production of metabolic by-products called metabolites. These metabolites include enzymes, bio-available vitamins (A, C, D, and B-complex), amino acids, organic acids, small amounts of plant hormones, bacteriocins and the microbes.

  • Benefits of use include:
  • Quickly Improve Soil Structure
  • Produce Higher Quality Compost
